M*A*S*H Assembly Presentation
Assembly Text
On July 6, a new theme was introduced for our Adult Sunday School. During a youth and adult assembly in the gym, we saw where God has taken us over the past five years (20% growth), the “opportunities” this blessing has caused, and looked at what the future may hold.
There are many contingencies that will impact our future. Currently, we only have a lease on the Annex through December. There is also significant discussion and some planning on a remodel of Bldg. C or the “Old Ed.” Building. This is very preliminary yet still may occur at some point in 2009, if not in 2010.
We do not have good news for those that do not like change! Classes moved for the temporary renovation. They’ll move again within the month. January 1, they may well move again because of the expiration of the Annex lease. Within a year of so of that date, a fourth move is possible because of the update of Bldg. C.
M*A*S*H stands for Mobile Army Surgical Hospital. MASH units were temporary structures that changed locations as the battle lines dictated. With all the possibilities on the table for us as a church, we think it’s best if we adopt a M*A*S*H–type attitude: Mobile Adult Study Hour. We know that as a church family we can handle a lot if we know what to expect. Expect plenty of change!
Remember, also, that God is at work even amongst the growth. He is at his potter’s wheel and through these circumstance wants to shape into us the character of Christ. Perhaps some what He is working into us is patience, flexibility, trust, longsuffering, and positive attitudes, among other things. Let’s collectively and personally seek God on how we can let Christ rule our hearts!
