November 2018

Posted by David Mills on

November reminds me of December. December reminds me of Christmas. Christmas reminds me of “Merry Christmas, Athens!” Many of us have souls that still feast on the memory of “Merry Christmas, Athens” in December 2017. I have looked forward to “Merry Christmas, Athens!” 2018 for eleven months, and now we are a month away from it! See this link to see how excited I am https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYosgmZa25c.

“Merry Christmas, Athens!” 2018 will consist of a Christmas music presentation by our Music and Worship Ministry Sunday afternoon, December 2 at 4:00 p.m. in the Worship Center. It will continue Sunday, December 9, with mission projects by Sunday School classes and a Christmas music presentation at the Georgia Square Mall. Following worship that Sunday morning, December 9, we will enjoy lunch together in the Gym, receive brief training, conduct mission projects, and return to the mall at 6:00 p.m. for our Christmas music celebration. Last year the crowd was excellent, and I expect it will be more so this year.

Besides looking forward to December, it is appropriate to look back a moment to October. Looking back, I must thank you for your labors in preparation and execution of our time with Ronnie Hill. We witnessed 20 professions of faith,
19 baptisms (with more to come), 10 school assemblies, consumption of 340+ steaks and 100s of slices of pizza, saints edified, the lost evangelized, Satan horrified, and Jesus glorified! I appreciate the staff for all their labors, and Mike Mauldin and his team of 15 working hard over the grills and in the gym for Steak Night. Several of you urged me to have Ronnie back, and a future date is in my prayers.

We “will most gladly spend and be spent” for the sake of lost people (2 Cor 12:15). With so many churches and Christians in retreat, Jesus bids us to step out and move forward for the world. Thank you for what you have done to make this happen and thank you in advance for your future efforts.

I Stand Amazed,
David Mills
